I took a car and a guide to drive me around Bintan, Indonesia. I asked our driver to take me to the bring me to a fishing village. While going down to look at a port taking people to Batam. I noticed old houses elevated on wood. I asked our driver to go there and apparently it was where and how the first people on the island lived.

Smoke Break
While exploring the backstreets if Tanjung Priok in Jakarta, I happened across this fine gentleman taking a smoke break between shuttling shoppers around the neighborhood on his becak (a three-wheeled pedal-powered people mover). At first, he seemed a bit unsure about posing for a photo, but when I showed him this shot, he was only too happy to pose for a few moments more.

Sunset and Surf Waves, Nusa Lembongan
Nusa Lembongan is a small island south east of Bali. There are many seaweed cultures near the coast, where people are picking the seaweed from small boats for export, especially for Japan. A bit outside there are immense surf waves which you cannot cross with the boats.

Mosque finials
These shiny finials are a feature on the roofs of mosques and prayer rooms throughout Java. We drove past quite a few workshops displaying a handful of completed finials but this one, on a street in Malang, definitely had the most comprehensive range so we just had to stop to capture it.

Early morning at Borobudur
I'm an art director in a small advertising agency at Jakarta, that picture taken early morning before sunrise at Borobudur temple. I spend the night at the small hotel inside the temple area and they open an early tour to go up to the temple before sunrise, and I couldn't loose that chance.
