Male Eclectus

Male Eclectus, originally uploaded by MarkusPhotoman.

This Male Eclectus lives at a bird sanctuary and I love the greens and blues in the plummage. Eclectus parrots are native to Eastern Indonesia, Australia and New Guinea. For many years, ornithologists thought they were of two different species. As you can tell by looking at the female eclectus, the colouration and beaks are very different from one another. Image taken on April 20, 2007.
