These 3 photos were taken in near pitch-black darkness (about 11pm, I think) with a 1-minute exposure. The orange glow comes from the last dregs of sunlight seeping out from over the horizon, too faint to be seen by the naked eye. If you look at the upper ends, you'll notice stars.
Pity about the composition, I didn't have a tripod so had to rest it flat on a wooden rail.
The foreground light in this one came from under the waters of our pool, which we couldn't turn off.
